just got lunesta prescribed a few days agoand ever since then when i take i wake up and it feels like a knife is in my stomach or my side, i was switched from ambien, i think i will go back to the ambien, the horrible taste and the knife in my stomach feeling is just too much, i'd rather be up all night than go through that, i've thrown my prescription out and going back to my ambien, then when i go back to my dr its going to be strictly ambien no lunesta!

I had used Ambien before this but was too groggy in am. Lunesta 2mg works very well for me, and 2-3 nights a month I use the 3mg as needed. I want to caution people however about a serious side effect. If you take the medication and do not go right to bed, you could find yourself doing things you hadn't planned on doing and you won't really remember it clearly the next morning. For me what happens is I know that I don't get really sleepy until one hour after taking it, so I try to stay up and get a few things done. I will inevitably get extememly hungry during this time and consume more calories then than I did the whole day combined! Please be careful and go right to bed after taking it and resist any urge to get up and do something, you might not remember it!

This rx left a bad taste in my mouth when I first started taking it, but it doesn't bother me any more, but I've stared having problems with memory loss. Not sure if this is normal.

Doc put me on 2mg. Took me 3-4 hours to fall asleep but once I did I slept well. However, in the morning I was so sedated that I couldn't walk without bumping into walls. Doc on call reduced it to 1mg and while it still took me several hours to fall asleep, I slept well and woke up refreshed for the first time in 22 years! I didn't have the bad taste that so many report, but it did give me a nasty, daily headache for the first weeks or two. After about 2 months on Lunesta 1mg, something has changed - for a week or two it had no effect on me whatsoever. I couldn't fall asleep or stay asleep. Felt like I wasn't taking anything at all. Then, I got the nasty headache back, and I started to fall asleep again (but only after 2 hours). Even though I got 8-9 hours sleep, I felt so sedated in the morning that it was hard to wake up and function properly. So, I have mixed feelings on this drug. It was a miracle for a few weeks when I slept well and woke up refreshed and alert, but the majority of my time on it I have not been happy with. I will be asking my doctor to discontinue my prescription as I would rather not spend so much money on something that makes me feel just as poorly on it as off it and doesn't seem to be taking care of my insomnia as I would like it to.
