Trilipix (Fenofibric Acid)
loading...
Trilipix (fenofibric acid) helps reduce cholesterol and triglycerides (fatty acids) in the blood. High levels of these types of fat in the blood are associated with an increased risk of atherosclerosis (clogged arteries).
Trilipix is used to treat high cholesterol and high triglyceride levels. It is sometimes given together with other cholesterol-lowering medications.
Trilipix may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Most important: You should not use Trilipix if you have liver disease, gallbladder disease, severe kidney disease (or if you are on dialysis), or if you are breast-feeding a baby.
Before you take Trilipix, tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, diabetes, or underactive thyroid.
Trilipix is only part of a complete program of treatment that may also include diet, exercise, weight control, and other medications. Follow your diet, medication, and exercise routines very closely.
Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Trilipix. Alcohol can raise triglyceride levels, and may also damage your liver while you are taking this medication.
Avoid eating foods that are high in fat or cholesterol. Trilipix will not be as effective in lowering your cholesterol if you do not follow a cholesterol-lowering diet plan.
In rare cases, Trilipix can cause a condition that results in the breakdown of skeletal muscle tissue, leading to kidney failure. Call your doctor right away if you have muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness especially if you also have fever, nausea or vomiting, and dark colored urine.

The capsules are a fight for me to swallow because they insist on floating on top of any liquid that I take them with. They are too light weight. I am into my second week and am unable to report if they have worked for me until I return for bloodwork. I have noticed a twitching in one of my eyelids that may or may not be related.

I’ve been on the drug for 3 months now. No side effects noted. Easy to take, I took it in the morning before breakfast. It dropped my trigs almost 300 points, enough to effectively measure my ldl, which was back to normal levels, hdl was also improved. I also lost 17# and increased my exercise level from none to some. I feel very good about staying on this drug.

I was unaware that I had any problem with cholesterol or triglycerides, but after a full blood panel was done on me that is what the Dr. found. I actually went to have the blood work done to see if my testosterone level was down because I was having severe mood swings, irritability and anger issues. I took the Trilipix for 6 weeks with no difficulties or side effects; another blood draw was taken and the Dr. said my high levels had come down. I will get another blood draw in 1 month to check my levels again. The positives about taking this medication is that my levels are coming down, but even better is that my mood swings, frustration and irritability have all subsided. My spouse and friends say that I am back to my old self again and it happened in just two weeks of being on the medication. I did a complete 180! I am not on any other medications.

After taking this drug for 30 days and just having a blood test it looks like it’s doing the job. My only concern is whether it will cause problems with liver function, we’ll be watching that in the future.

I was on Trilipix with Pravastanin. The first month I never noticed much except musle pain. The longer I took it the worse I felt and then started having major physotic problems. They wanted to commit me to a mental instute but I refused but went off of both and all problems went away with in a week. I have now started back on Pravastatin and only have musle pain. No phycotic problems. Trilipix is a very dangerous drug and I recomend that it be taken off the market.
