Latest news and information on Valium
Valium is in a group of drugs called benzodiazepines. It affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause anxiety.
Valium is used in the management of anxiety disorders. It may also be used to treat agitation, shakiness, and hallucinations during alcohol withdrawal and to relieve certain types of muscle pain.
Valium may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Most important: You should not use Valium if you are allergic to diazepam, or if you have myasthenia gravis, severe liver disease, narrow-angle glaucoma, a severe breathing problem, or sleep apnea. This medication can cause birth defects in an unborn baby. Do not use Valium if you are pregnant.
Before taking Valium, tell your doctor if you have glaucoma, asthma or other breathing problems, kidney or liver disease, seizures, or a history of drug or alcohol addiction, mental illness, depression, or suicidal thoughts.
Do not drink alcohol while taking Valium. This medication can increase the effects of alcohol.
Never take more of this medication than your doctor has prescribed. An overdose of Valium can be fatal.
Valium may be habit-forming and should be used only by the person it was prescribed for. Thus medicine should never be shared with another person, especially someone who has a history of drug abuse or addiction. Keep the medication in a secure place where others cannot get to it.

Very relaxing… Valium (Diazepam) is a benzo with muscle relaxing properties, so when you take it, you feel really good. But if you have to operate machinery, or even exercise (dance, etc.) then the good, relaxing feeling is not so good for you. Diazepam is a long-life benzo, just like Klonopin. If you don’t like the muscle relaxation, take the Klonopin. It doesn’t feel as “good”, but it’s even more effective. If you like to feel like floating, then Valium is the best one for you. It’s good for anxiety in general.

Meets My Needs I only take Valium when I am experiencing an aggitated mixed state to sooth the savage beast within. I become very aggressive when in this state, to the point I fear that I will harm somebody.
I take Valium only when needed as it is a highly addictive drug, of which I have seen the outcome and weaning off. NOT Pretty!
Thanks, Nicci

I take 5 mg as needed for anxiety, and have found the drug very helpful for this purpose. I have found it difficult, however, to resist taking it more than recommended by my doctor because it makes me feel so much more relaxed, so if you have an addictive personality this is probably not a good choice for you.

Diazepam has been a godsend to me, my anxiety can sometimes be really bad it makes me terrified and rooted to the spot. The down side is, i have been taking them for quite some time and so i feel they are now less effective. I take 10mg in the morning but by late afternoon they have worn off. My doctor is not keen to increase the dose but something will have to be done. Overall Diazepam work great when the correct dose is given.
